TDot Performance: 116% Local Traffic Growth with NAP Citation Building
How consistent NAP citations across 120+ directories helped TDot Performance reach the Google Maps Top 3 and more than double local organic traffic in 3 months.
TDot Performance is Canada’s self-described number one auto parts online retailer, based at 1245 Caledonia Rd, North York, Ontario. They sell auto parts, car lights, tires, wheels, rims, and catalytic converters across the country. Despite strong brand recognition, their local SEO footprint was inconsistent: only 25 citations live, weak Google Maps presence, and local organic traffic that was not reflecting the scale of their business. They came to me to fix the foundation.
The challenge
- Only 25 live citations across directories, with no standardized NAP data. Inconsistent name, address, and phone information was undermining Google’s confidence in the listing.
- Local keyword rankings for high-volume terms like “auto parts Canada” were stuck on pages 3 to 4 of Google.
- Google Maps visibility was low, which meant the business was missing out on local pack clicks despite operating at national scale.
- Phone inquiries through the Google Business Profile were limited at roughly 40 per month.
What I did
NAP consistency setup
Before submitting anywhere, I standardized the exact NAP string that would appear across all platforms:
- Business name: TDot Performance
- Address: 1245 Caledonia Rd, North York, ON M6A 2X6, Canada
- Phone: 1-800-276-7566
- Website: https://www.tdotperformance.ca
This single step, done properly before outreach, is what makes citation building work. Inconsistent data across directories is actively harmful to local rankings.
Citation building
I submitted the standardized business details to top Canadian directories including YellowPages Canada, Yelp Canada, 411.ca, Profile Canada, HotFrog, and the BBB, among others. I also targeted industry-specific directories for auto parts and car accessories. Each citation included a backlink pointing to both the website homepage and the Google Business Profile, creating a consistent authority signal back to both destinations. The citation count grew from 25 to 120+.
Keyword integration in listings
I optimized the business descriptions within each citation listing around the target keywords: auto parts, car parts Canada, wheels, rims, catalytic converters, and car lights. I also incorporated the client’s positioning line, “Canada’s #1 Auto Parts Online Retailer,” consistently across submissions to reinforce branded recognition.
Google Business Profile optimization
I claimed and fully optimized the GBP with accurate business categories, service details, and photos. The consistent NAP data flowing in from 120+ citations reinforced the GBP listing, which is what drove the Google Maps pack improvement.
Results
| Metric | Before | After (3 months) |
|---|---|---|
| Citations live | 25 | 120+ |
| Local keyword rankings (auto parts Canada) | Page 3-4 | Page 1-2 |
| Google Maps visibility | Low | Top 3 local pack |
| Local organic traffic (Canada) | ~2,500/month | ~5,400/month |
| Phone inquiries from GBP | ~40/month | ~95/month |
Local organic traffic grew by 116% in three months. Phone inquiries through the Google Business Profile increased by 138%. TDot Performance achieved Page 1 visibility for “auto parts Canada,” “car lights,” and “wheels online Canada,” and secured placement in the Top 3 Google Maps local pack for multiple keywords.
Why it worked
- NAP consistency is the foundation of local SEO. Building citations with inconsistent data would have actively hurt rankings. Standardizing the data string before any submissions went out is what made the scale of this campaign effective.
- The shift from 25 to 120+ citations gave Google enough corroborating signals across trusted directories to push the GBP listing into the local pack.
- Targeting Canadian directories specifically, rather than generic global platforms, ensured the citations carried country-level geographic relevance that Google’s local algorithm actually rewards.
- Combining directory citations with GBP optimization created a compounding effect: more citations raised GBP trust, which raised Maps visibility, which drove more direct calls and traffic.
